Heard this tune via a Southern Comfort advert, The original is great but I do like this version. Smooth Vocals.

a 1970 jazz/funk rare groove classic by singer, actress and civil rights activist Odetta Holmes. Odetta wrote this track, Hit or Miss, and it was released as a single and featured on the 1970 album Odetta Sings. It was popularised again in 1999 when it was featured on the limited edition DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist mixtape Brainfreeze. Unfortunately, the original version of Hit or Miss is now very difficult to track down.

You know, 2 or 3 decades from now, young Hollywood is going to look back at how serious the comic book movies of this era were. Then they will decide that they need to lighten up the formula and bring the comic book heroes back to their more campy heydays. I’ve had this track by L.A. Carnival on repeat for the past few days. It’s where No I.D. got the sample for Stay, one of my favourite tracks on Nas’ Life Is Good Album.

The actual tune gives of a summertime in time in NY feel, then the sample kicks in around the 1:10 min mark and transports you to a gritty cold night in NY’s lower eastside. Sick track. Gotta love the Sax melodies on those breaks too.
